St Vincent De Paul is a worldwide organisation and in Australia was founded in Victoria in March 1854.

Here at our local Conference in Hoppers Crossing North, we have been operating at St James the Apostle for many years and currently have 18 members. We meet every month on a Tuesday at 7pm and some meetings we even have treats made or bought by our Co-ordinators Terese and Judy!!!!. It’s a great opportunity to meet with our fellow parishioners, but more importantly to gather in the name of Jesus and to do his work as he asked us to do.

Matthew 25 – 40 “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

The way in which we do this is by our weekly home visits to our community. We assist by providing Coles vouchers to purchase food, a Vinnies Card to shop at our local Vinnies Store where they can buy clothes and household items.

During our visit we also provide information about services such as: - Food banks, housing, loans, and support with mental health and other health issues.

St Vinnies is also involved in the Community by doing activities during the year such as Winter Sleep outs, Soup Vans, and Christmas Hampers. Our young Vinnies are also involved in these activities.

One member of St Vincent de Paul expressed that “Volunteering for St Vincent De Paul gives us all the opportunity to give back to the Community, especially those most in need. It’s an opportunity to put our faith in Christ’s message into a meaningful action and it’s an honour to be invited into people’s homes”.

We welcome anyone who would like to be part of our Ministry to please feel free to give Judy DeBono a call on 0418 202 092.
