The Lay Paulist Missionaries are a group of parishioners and friends who come together monthly to share in the charism and missionary activity of the Paulist Missionaries. It was decided after the last Paulist Chapter in Peru to have Lay associates to accompany the society in its missionary apostolate.

One member of the Paulist Lay writes:

My name is Tess Mijares.I am currently ministering to the priests of our Parish by preparing meals thereby sharing in one of the Paulist charisms, that of hospitality; I started this as I felt a call to serve in this way. I soon discovered that my experience showed me that this charism is so much more than just a couple of priests. Rather, they are part of an international family whose worldwide role is to ensure that the message of Christ is heard through love, service, hospitality and care.

I became a member of the MSSP Lay to embrace more deeply my relationship with Jesus. It was after meeting the Superior General of the MSSP from Rome, Fr Mark Grima, in 2010 where we celebrated the centenary of the Paulist Missionaries that I felt drawn to the Lay Paulists. In St James parish, the ministry meets once a month to embrace the charism of the missionaries and further our understanding of how we as lay people can deepen our faith and vision as missionary disciples in the Church. I am proud to belong to this family who meet monthly to pray, reflect, share and live out the scriptures and the missionary vision of Joseph de Piro, the founder of the Paulist Missionaries.
