Scripture Discussion Group
Our group exists to provide a venue for anyone who wishes to increase their understanding of their Christian faith, by reading and discussing the Holy Scriptures. One can achieve much by reading the Bible alone, but so much more is learnt when you hear the opinions of others. We are not Scriptural Scholars in an academic sense, but our discussion is wide and far ranging. No one should feel barred from attending, and Members may speak or not, as they choose. There are no fees and no obligations.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NRSVCE)
16 All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.
Hebrews 4:12 (NRSVCE)
12 Indeed, the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing until it divides soul from spirit, joints from marrow; it is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Each week we normally study a chapter of the Old Testament, one from the New Testament, and end the meetings by reading a Psalm. Meetings run throughout the year, with a break at Christmas and Easter.
