St Vincent de Paul Society

We have two conferences that we are part of:

  1. Thornbury Conference
  2. Alphington and Northcote Conference

‘Vinnies’ groups respond to calls from people in need in their parishes by providing food, clothing, utilities and other forms of assistance. They respond to nightly house calls.

  • Membership of the St Vincent de Paul Society provides parishioners with opportunities to live the gospel message in a variety of ways, the most ongoing of these including:
  • visiting people in their homes in the parish area and in inner suburbs, to help find the most appropriate response to the person’s or family’s needs;
  • packing and delivering food hampers for needy families at Christmas;
  • providing financial assistance to St. Vinnies;
  • providing administrative support at the Society’s central office by way of assisting with mailouts and receiving calls for assistance at the State Call Centre.

Becoming Involved

Vinnies groups are always looking for volunteers to assist with one or more of the society’s activities. This involvement can be matched with volunteers’ availability (once a year to many times a week) and interests. Interested parishioners are encouraged to contact the Parish Office (94842907). Parish staff will provide the contact details of the Vinnies’ President at each conference.
