Becoming Catholic: The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)

The RCIA is a process universally instituted in the Roman Catholic Church to prepare adults to become members of the Catholic Church. The process of initiation consists of several stages and rituals, leading up to the reception of all three sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil.

Adults who have previously been baptised will undertake the same formation and are initiated into the Church through Confirmation and Eucharist only.

The RCIA journey commences in August each year and concludes at Pentecost.
