A recent visit to the Ascot Vale Presbytery revealed an amazing wood panelled entrance hall and this beautiful example of stained glass, dated about July 1916. World War One was raging and Father Bakker was about to arrive in the Parish (1919). The Presbytery is full of such intact historical nuggets, right alongside massive decay and neglect. It's deceptive that way- despite these nuggets of beauty the building is in poor condition.

The Parish has entered a period of respectful waiting alongside low key preparation for the duties that lay ahead.. We are waiting for the Archbishop Peter to respond to our petition to permanently close the Church and relegate it to profane and not sordid use (Canon Law language meaning earthy, worldly use) In our case we are talking about demolition of the building as soon as possible, probably January School Holidays.

We are also waiting for two committees, one will begin working on the History of St Margaret's, what of the life and story of St Margarets is to be saved and honoured. How will this be done..
