On Wednesday, 5th June 2025, the St Brendan’s Catholic School community gathered in joy and gratitude to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the school’s founding. A special Mass was celebrated by Bishop Tony Ireland, the Auxiliary Bishop of the Southern Region of Melbourne, along with Fr Shymon, Parish Priest, and Fr Michael, former Parish Priest, giving thanks to God for three decades of Catholic education and service to the Somerville community. The school choir, led by Emma, and Gen’s band added colour and beauty to the liturgical celebration.

The celebration was attended by former principals, along with the current principal, Sue Carr, Member of Parliament Paul Mercurio, representatives from MACS, staff, students, parents, parishioners, and other special guests. It was a beautiful occasion of faith, remembrance, and hope for the future.

St Brendan’s began in 1995 with just 56 students—a response to the real needs of local families, initiated by the late Fr John William and the Westernport Parish Education Board. Like the mustard seed in the Gospel, the school has grown into a strong and vibrant community, rooted in the values of Respect, Kindness, Inclusion, Endeavour, Resilience, and striving for Personal Best.

As we mark this special milestone, we honour the visionaries who planted the seed, the many hands that have nurtured it, and the grace of God that continues to help it grow. St Brendan’s is not just a school—it is a thriving community of love, learning, and faith.
