ST. MARY’S CATHOLIC SCHOOL, HASTINGS

Learning Together in Faith, Hope and Love

Nestled on the picturesque foreshore of Hastings, St Mary's Catholic Primary School is a vibrant, inclusive, and faith-filled community where children are nurtured to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. As part of the Parish of Western Port, we proudly serve families across the Hastings region, providing a welcoming environment where every child is known, valued and supported. Our school is guided by the Gospel values of Faith, Hope and Love, which shape all aspects of school life-from learning and relationships, to service and community. We believe that children thrive when school and families work together in partnership. As a community, we honour parents as a child's first educators and walk alongside each family to help their child flourish. At St Mary's, we offer a future-focused education underpinned by the MACS Vision for Instruction, where: "Every student is a successful, engaged and purposeful learner who is confident, curious and challenged to reach their full potential." We provide high-quality, evidence-informed teaching with a strong focus on explicit instruction and high expectations. Our dedicated educators support students to develop essential knowledge, skills and learning behaviors that set the foundation for a lifetime of learning. Our approach is further supported by the MACS Vision for Engagement, which reminds us: "All learners are inspired and empowered to flourish through positive relationships in a safe and inclusive environment." At St Mary's, student wellbeing is central to everything we do. We create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where students feel a strong sense of connection and belonging. Through whole-school wellbeing initiatives, social emotional learning, and personalized support, we help every child grow in confidence, resilience, and empathy. We are committed to developing lifelong learners-curious thinkers, compassionate friends, and capable problem-solvers-who are not only prepared for the next stage of their education, but who will grow into thriving, successful adults with strong values, a love of learning, and a desire to make a positive difference in the world. We invite you to discover what makes St Mary's Catholic Primary School, Hastings so special-a place where students learn and grow in Faith, Hope and Love, supported every step of the way by a caring and connected community.

ST. BRENDAN’S PRIMARY SCHOOL, SOMERVILLE

St. Brendan’s Primary School opened in 1994 as the third school in the Westernport Parish, Hastings A generous parishioner, Brendan Conroy, donated a parcel of land to the parish and the school moved to its present site at Somerville in 1995. There were 56 students enrolled at the time. The school was officially opened on St Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1996 by Archbishop Frank Little.

St Brendan’s school logo includes images of a boat sailed by St Brendan, which symbolises education as a journey. The Cross represents our Church identity and the encircled hands show support, care, work and helpfulness. The image of the hands also reminds us of the orchard trees, which used to grow on our school property

St Brendan’s School seeks to be a place of learning and support where every person is known, encouraged and challenged. The philosophy of Positive Psychology underpins the school’s approach to learning and wellbeing. All staff model the Christian values of faith, hope, and love which assists in the development of values and attitudes that equip students to live within our democratic society.

We welcome all visitors to come and see our school in action.

ST JOSEPH’S PRIMARY SCHOOL, CRIB POINT

St Joseph’s Primary School is a learning community that strives to live out its vision of ‘Growing Together in Knowledge, Faith and Friendship’. We aim to be a welcoming, inclusive community where each individual is valued and respected. All activities are focused on the learner. We strive to ensure each child reaches their full potential spiritually, academically, physically, socially and emotionally.

St. Joseph’s school, Crib Point, first opened in 1927 to provide a Catholic Education for children of Defence Force families. The original work done was raised by parents, committees and collections from the Naval Chapel Our Lady Star of the Sea HMAS Cerberus. The school was opened by his Grace Archbishop Mannix in January 1927. Father A,J Martin started the school to provide a Catholic Education for Defense Force families. At this time many students came from the migrant camp at Somers to attend St. Joseph’s school.

St. Joseph’s is the closest Catholic school to HMAS Cerberus and we are proud of our long association with the Defense Force.

PADUA COLLEGE, TYABB

At Padua College we offer an education for life, one that values mind, body and spirit. As a Catholic school community, we offer our students several very important challenges – to develop a deeper awareness of themselves, of God and of others and to live lives more fully based on the values taught by Jesus.

Excellent staff, facilities, grounds and resources at each of our three campuses provide ample opportunity for students to excel in areas of curriculum, leadership and the sporting, cultural and religious life of the College.

Our hope is that each student will consciously strive to develop an enthusiasm for learning and for deriving from each school day the very best results according to his or her potential. All members of our community are committed to the total development of each individual student, and to assist them in achieving their goals.
