Sacraments & Funerals
Sacraments
Sacraments are ways in which we experience God’s love, healing, forgiveness, nourishment and strengthening.
In the Catholic Church, there are seven sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist, Reconciliation (or Confession or Penance), the Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders and Matrimony.
- The Sacrament of Christian Initiation - Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist
- The Sacrament of Healing - Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick
- The Sacraments at the service of Communion and Mission - Holy Orders and Matrimony
Funerals
Since Sacraments are for the living members of the Church, a funeral is not a sacrament.
Through the Catholic Funeral Rites we commend the beloved deceased to the merciful hands of our Lord Jesus, and are reminded of the companionship and support of Christ and all believers.
