Baptisms
Baptisms at Holy Name
Baptisms are held each Sunday at 11am (except during Easter season) or by special appointment if requested.
These are private ceremonies which take approximately 30 minutes. We ask that you and your guests are punctual.
Currently there is no requirement to do any preparation sessions prior to the Baptism.
Preferably, both Godparents should be Catholic. According to the Church Law (Canon Law) at least one Godparent needs to be a practicing Catholic; the other can be from other Trinitarian Christian traditions. Godparents are not to be less than sixteen years old.
In the case of parents wishing to have their child baptised at Holy Name but are residing at another Parish, a written approval from the Parish Priest of the other Parish must be presented with the Baptismal Form. Church Law states that after 6 months that a Catholic has taken up residence, the Parish in that territory becomes their Parish; so a written approval from the Parish Priest is required.
On the day of the Baptism please bring with you a Baptismal candle and a Baptismal stole for your child. A Certificate of Baptism will be given to you after the celebration of the Baptism.
A donation to the Priest for conducting this service is greatly appreciated. Please give your donation to the Parish Priest on the day of the Baptism.
If you require any further information or to check availability, please contact the Parish Office on 9471 0832 or at prestoneast@cam.org.au
