Please accept the Parish’s sincerest sympathy on the loss that
you and your family have suffered.
We wish to assist you in providing the most appropriate
farewell for your deceased relative and to celebrate the significance of the life that has ended.
Costs
We appreciate that this is a very difficult time, and we wish to support you in your time of loss. However, there are costs incurred in providing this service as such these are our nominal costs:
· We have one fee for Church, Priest, and graveside committal = $450. [No graveside committal = $350]
[Using church with a VISITING PRIEST - Church fee $250]
· Livestream $200 (to be paid with above fee)
· Community Hall Hire for small (60 people max) post funeral receptions: $150 flat fee for up to 3 hours use (you must first book by speaking with our Office 59752200) - Also to be paid with above fees.
Pre-Funeral Arrangements
Our Priest(s) requires a meeting with those family or executors arranging the funeral. The meeting is to discuss the details (readings, music, liturgy) of the funeral, to allow family to have input and to express the wishes of the deceased. This may be done in the Parish Office or at your home or over internet or phone (whichever is most convenient)? This meeting must be done as soon as possible and before any arrangements have been finalised.
The Funeral – Church capacity approx. 450 people.
The Church offers Roman Catholic Funeral Rites or a Prayer Service that may be used to mark the death of a loved one.
REMEMBER – The funeral Liturgy (readings, prayers, music etc) is decided by the Family and our Priest – NOT the funeral Directors!
The Requiem Mass for the deceased is the major Catholic farewell liturgy, and we would encourage you to use the Mass for your deceased relative (regardless of whether the person has been attending Mass regularly). However, we understand that there may be circumstances which make an alternative service format (without communion) more appropriate for you. Your requirements can be discussed with the priest who will assist you in working out the funeral liturgy.
A requiem Mass which includes Eucharist (Communion): - approx. 60 minutes: This is in two parts:
1. PART 1 - Before Mass: Welcome and Eulogies
2. Visual memorial tribute
3. PART 2 – Holy Mass begins.
4. Prayers
5. Readings
6. Eucharist
7. Prayers
With a prayer service (No Eucharist/Communion): – approx. 45 minutes

5. Prayers
Both the above timelines depend on how many Eulogists and songs there are.
Funeral Times
Funerals at St Macartan’s are only conducted Tuesday to Fridays. The earliest time available is from 11.30am. The Funeral Director must always contact the Parish Priest before finalising any funeral arrangements. The Church will be open 1 hour before the agreed start time, we ask consideration to be given for other events such as daily Mass and reconciliation may be in progress, so please not arrive before then.
Other Celebrant (Priest)
St. Macartan’s Priest(s) are available to conduct any funeral. If you wish, however, to use another priest, you are most welcome. But it must first be approved by our Parish Priest.
Livestreaming – YES! We do live streaming and it is great quality.
St Macartan’s offer livestreaming & recording of your funeral:
A single camera recording, with excellent quality, can be livestreamed and then uploaded to YouTube channel – Cost is $200.
Viewable live (code will be sent through well before funeral) and is then uploaded to our YouTube Channel for viewing later.
Music Options
Our church is equipped with an excellent audio-visual system which can be used to play recorded music, and project pictures.
We will look after the music (only) and have that uploaded on our system ready for the day of the funeral. Where possible we will have an operator for our AV System, but if we have no one available, we ask for support from the funeral directors to assist with starting and stopping the music.
We cannot however prepare the visual memorial tribute (music and photos). This is to be created by the Family or with the funeral Directors assistance on MP4 format and uploaded to our system via Dropbox and tested at the church well prior to the funeral.
Note: Monday’s - church and office is closed.
It is also imperative to note, that under no circumstances may any PC or laptop be connected to the Church’s AV System. ONLY a USB is allowed. We also have a CD/DVD player available.
Formats:
. Photos with background music are to be in MP4 format. A still photo for screen photo is to be jpeg. A Drobox link will be sent to the funeral directors to have their people upload to our system.
. Non-live Music: ALL to be pre-arranged with the Priest(s) and will be uploaded to our system by us.

Please note: We will always try and accommodate any reasonable musical requests. But remember; it is in a Church and is a Catholic funeral, and as Catholics, we want this solemn rite honoured appropriately and reverently. Thus, giving our utmost respect and dignity to the deceased person in honoring their faith. So lyric content of song choices is considered very important, and the Priest has the final say on choice. We have over 90 songs to select from and we will send you our YouTube Playlist link when requested.
Music Copyright
St. Macartan’s acknowledges the rights of artists with respect to copyright and holds appropriate licenses for the music and lyrics regularly used in a funeral liturgy. This covers the display of lyrics through the projection system as well as the printing of words in order of service booklets.
Booklets
St. Macartan’s are not able to produce booklets for the funeral liturgy. However, we will set up the funeral liturgy, with all the readings and Mass parts in a format that we email you and can easily be used for a booklet.
Eulogies
Presentations in the form of eulogies are suggested to be no longer than 15 minutes in total, regardless of how many eulogists. This is to allow time to meet other commitments after funeral, of the funeral directors and Priest. Also, to meet any cemetery graveside committal times or other events in the Church.
Flowers
Any flowers for the funeral, may be pre-delivered to the Church, either the day before or the morning of the funeral. Please inform Parish Office of any arrangements 5975 2200.
After Funeral Refreshments - Hall Hire
If available? The St Macartan’s Community Hall (building under the Palm tree) may be used for refreshments? Refreshment arrangements must be made entirely by the family or funeral directors, via our office and through on of our approved caterers* as they include set-up and clean-up. The Community Hall which has a capacity of approximately 80 must be booked separately to the funeral.
Also – the wake or gathering in the hall, must be after any graveside committal at Mornington Cemetery (not before the committal).
