SIGNIFICANT DATES DURING THE YEAR

  • Australia Day is celebrated with a outdoor Mass (weather permitting) followed by a BBQ and Trivia
  • Pancake Weekend will be held throughout the Parish on the weekend before shrove Tuesday in preparation for Lent
  • World Day of Prayer is held every year in Meredith and in Winchelsea, alternating between the Anglican Church, the Uniting Church and Catholic Church. The World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement lead by Christian women who welcome you to join in prayer and action for peace and justice. This is celebrated each year in over 170 countries. The movement aims to bring together people of various races, cultures and traditions, seeking to develop closer fellowship, understanding throughout the year.
  • Feast Day’s (St Joseph, St John the Baptist, St Mary MacKillop, St Brigid, Sacred Heart) are celebrated with Mass and then a shared meal. The feast days of the patrons for each of our churches are celebrated.
  • Mother/Daughter Breakfast is held on the Saturday before Mother’s Day. This is well patronized and a very good morning is generally had by all.
  • A Father/Son activity will be run on the Friday evening before Father’s day
  • October is Rosary Month, where each church has a week of Rosary, either held in their church or at a parishioner’s home. A Rosary Culmination Mass is held at St Joseph’s followed by dinner.
  • All Souls Day (2nd November). The cemeteries of the entire parish are visited, prayed at and blessed.
  • Christ The King. A Mass for the whole parish is celebrated at St Mary MacKillop Church Bannockburn, during which thanks is given for all the graces of the year and for all our parish volunteers. This is then followed by a bar-b-que lunch.
  • Christmas Carols at St Mary MacKillop Catholic School
  • Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Masses are held at all churches.
  • New Years Eve celebration starting with Adoration at 11.00pm followed by 12.00am Mass


The Easter Three Days (Triduum)

  • Holy Thursday: The Mass of the Last Supper, with the washing of the feet is celebrated at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Winchelsea.
  • Good Friday Stations of the Cross, is an ecumenical service starting at 10.30am held in Bannockburn, followed by hot cross buns and a cuppa.
  • The Good Friday Solemn Celebration of the Passion is held at St Mary MacKillop Church Bannockburn at 3.00pm
  • Easter Vigil Mass at St Joseph’s Meredith
  • Sunday Mass at St John the Baptist Church Winchelsea, St Mary MacKillop Church Bannockburn and at St Brigid’s Church Anakie or St Joseph’s Meredith
