RCIC - The Rite OF Christian Initiation of Children
👨👩👧 RCIC – Rite of Christian Initiation of Children
What is RCIC?
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Children (RCIC) is a faith journey for children aged 8 to 17 who:
- Are not yet baptised, or
- Have not completed their Sacraments
RCIC follows the same spirit as RCIA, but is thoughtfully adapted to suit the age, needs, and understanding of children and young people.
How is RCIC different?
RCIC is designed especially for children:
- Learning is simple, engaging, and age-appropriate
- Faith is explored through stories, activities, and prayer
- The journey involves both the child and their family
The role of parents
Parents and guardians play an essential role in RCIC:
- Supporting their child’s faith journey
- Attending key sessions when needed
- Encouraging faith and prayer at home
This is a shared journey of faith—one that involves the whole family.
The journey
Through RCIC, children will:
- Learn about Jesus and the Catholic faith
- Grow in confidence, understanding, and belonging
- Prepare to receive the Sacraments of Initiation
- (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist)
A welcoming path
Every child is welcomed with patience, care, and encouragement.
Each journey is unique, and we walk together at a pace that supports the child’s growth in faith.
