What is RCIA?

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a journey of faith for adults who wish to explore the Catholic faith or become fully initiated into the Church.

RCIA is more than a course—it is a spiritual journey. It is a time to:

• Grow in your relationship with God
• Reflect on life through the Gospel
• Learn about Catholic beliefs and practices

Participants meet regularly with members of the parish community to pray, share, and learn together in a supportive and welcoming environment.

Who is RCIA for?

RCIA is for:

• Adults who are not baptised
• Adults baptised in another Christian tradition
• Baptised Catholics who have not completed their Sacraments
• Non-practising Catholics seeking to renew their faith

What does the journey involve?

The RCIA journey unfolds in several stages:

1. Inquiry (Come & See)

A relaxed and open time to ask questions and explore the faith.

2. Catechumenate (Formation)

A period of deeper learning about Jesus, Scripture, and Catholic life.

3. Purification & Enlightenment

A time of spiritual preparation, usually during Lent.

4. Sacraments of Initiation

Celebrated at Easter—Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.

5. Mystagogy

A time of continued growth and reflection after receiving the Sacraments.

Who will walk with you?

You will be accompanied and supported by:

• Parish catechists
• Sponsors and companions
• The wider parish community
• The guidance of the Holy Spirit
