Welcome to St Martin of Tours Parish. We are delighted to support your family as you prepare for your child’s Baptism — the first Sacrament of Initiation into the Catholic Church and the beginning of their journey in faith.

Our Baptism Team, together with Fr Michael, will guide you through each step of the process with warmth and care.

Baptism Preparation Programme

The Baptism process at St Martin’s includes three key steps:

1. Presentation at Sunday Mass 10am

Your child will be presented to the parish community during the 10am Sunday Mass.

Families receive a blessing, and your child’s Baptism candle — later lit from the Paschal Candle during the ceremony — is given at this time.

Godparents are welcome but not required to attend.

2. Preparation Session

After Presentation, a member of our Baptism Team will arrange a meeting (in person or via Zoom) to explain the ceremony and guide you through the Baptism Pack. This pack includes important information and the Baptism stole your child will wear on the day.

Sessions are generally held in the Community Centre at a mutually convenient time.

At least one parent needs to attend this session in order to proceed with the Baptism. (Child is not required to attend)

3. Baptism Ceremony

Ceremonies are normally held on Sundays at 11:30am.

Please remember to bring your Baptism candle and stole.

Up to four children may be baptised per ceremony.

All parents must register online by completing the form below:

After completing the form, please email it back to our Parish Office at macleod@cam.org.au.

If you live outside St Martin’s Parish boundary, please obtain a permission letter from your parish and email it with your application.

If your child is 7 years or older, please contact the office before registering.

Older children may join the RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children) programme, which better supports their age and understanding.

Baptism Contribution

Your contribution helps support the church and ceremony:

• $100 per child

(Envelopes are included in the Baptism Pack and may be returned to the office or given to Fr Michael on the day.)
