Confirmation: Strengthening Our Faith
Introduction
The Sacrament of Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation in the Catholic Church. Through this sacrament, Catholics are strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit and called to live out their faith with courage, love and commitment.
About the Sacrament
Confirmation deepens the grace received at Baptism and strengthens our relationship with Jesus Christ and the Church. Through the anointing with Sacred Chrism and the laying on of hands, candidates receive the special outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Preparing for Confirmation
Preparation for Confirmation offers candidates an opportunity to explore their faith, learn about the teachings of the Catholic Church, and reflect on the importance of prayer, service and Christian living. Families, sponsors and parish communities play an important role in supporting candidates throughout this journey.
The Gifts of the Holy Spirit
The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord. These gifts help us grow in faith, make good decisions and become witnesses to Christ in our everyday lives.
Celebrating Confirmation
The celebration of Confirmation is a special milestone in the life of a Catholic. It reminds us that we are called to share God's love, serve others and participate actively in the life of our parish community.
Conclusion
May the Sacrament of Confirmation strengthen each candidate in faith and inspire them to live as faithful disciples of Christ, guided by the Holy Spirit.
