Motor Mission: Sacramental Program for Children
Each Sunday, during the school calendar year from 10.00am to 11.15 am, a group of catholic volunteer teachers and parents help prepare children attending government schools to receive the sacraments.
Motor Mission Sacramental Program
A sacramental program in a Catholic Church is typically a series of religious education or formation sessions aimed at preparing individuals to receive the sacraments. Our Catechist Program is designed to prepare children who do not attend a Catholic School, to receive the Holy Sacraments.
Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is for children in Grade 3 and 4 who have already been baptised.
First Eucharist
The Sacrament of the First Eucharist is for children who have already received the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This Sacrament is usually received in Grade 4 and 5.
Confirmation
The Sacrament of Confirmation is usually received by children in Grades 6 to 8.
The term Motor Mission is another name for the Sacramental Program at St. Luke’s, Lalor. The term describes the method where the teachers and catechists used buses to travel to schools to bring the children back to St. Luke’s for catechism classes. The goal of the program was to bring the sacraments such as Baptism, First Eucharist, Reconciliation or Confirmation to children in Public Schools. This provided sacramental education and preparation, such as catechesis for children receiving First Communion, Reconciliation and Confirmation. This also provided community outreach and built relationships with the local community offering prayers and providing support.
For each class a fee of $95 per child is required. Our 2026 Calendar and flyer are below for you reference. Please share this links with family and friends with school aged children.
