Melbourne Synod 2026 – Join the Conversation

25 July 2026

Together, let's listen, discern and shape the future of our Church

Our parish is delighted to be taking part in the Melbourne Synod 2026, and we warmly invite all parishioners to become part of this important journey.

A Synod is more than a meeting—it's an opportunity for the People of God to come together in prayer, listen to the Holy Spirit, and share their experiences, hopes and ideas for the future of our Church.

As part of the Melbourne Synod, parish communities across the Archdiocese are being invited to participate in local Consultation Groups. These conversations will complement the reflections already taking place within our parish and will help shape the future mission of the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

Whether you have been a parishioner for many years or have only recently joined our community, your voice matters. Everyone has something valuable to contribute.

The Consultation Themes

This year's conversations will focus on three key themes:

Young Discipleship

How can we better accompany and inspire young people to encounter Christ and grow as disciples?

Missionary Leadership

How can we become a more welcoming, outward-looking Church that shares the joy of the Gospel with others?

Formation & Participation

How can we encourage all members of our parish to grow in faith and take an active role in the life and mission of the Church?

You don't need to be an expert on these topics. Simply come with an open heart, ready to listen, reflect and share.

Preparing for Each Session

To help everyone prepare, we will upload the Discussion Paper for each consultation approximately one week before each session.

We encourage you to read the material beforehand, spend some time in prayer and reflection, and bring your thoughts to the conversation. The discussion paper for each week will be available below as soon as it is released.

Discussion Papers

The Archdiocese of Melbourne is inviting each parish to nominate one or two parishioners to be considered as regional members of the Melbourne Synod. If you know someone who is actively involved in parish life and would represent our parish well, we encourage you to submit a nomination using this NOMINATION FORM

Please return this completed form to the Parish Office to sandringham@cam.org.au or place it in the collection basket by Thursday 20 August.

Thank you for taking the time to nominate someone and for your participation in the life of our parish.
