Annual Blessing of Pets - St Brendan's Saturday 3 October 2026

A soggy morning couldn't dampen the enthusiasm and barks of our furry four-legged friends and their parishioner parents. Eight dogs and one very brave cat were blessed by Fr Andrew ahead of the Feast Day of St Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.

Tonka, Basil, Ollie, Messii, Bowie, Beau, Cecilia, Paddy and Rumble were on the whole well behaved. The pets received a certificate of blessing and a treat to take home.

As Fr Andrew said, 'the blessing lasts for a full 12 months, so tell your friends and come along next year."

“Good St. Francis, you loved all of God’s creatures.

To you they were your brothers and sisters.

Help us to follow your example of treating every living thing with kindness.

St. Francis, Patron Saint of animals, watch over my pet and keep my companion safe and healthy.

Amen.”
