MARRIAGE

Along with Holy Orders, The Sacrament of Marriage is commonly called the sacrament of service. Marriage is a vocation to love and service between the spouses and building up a family. It celebrates the marital love of the spouses and invokes God's blessing upon them as they embark on their journey as husband and wife.

It is normally celebrated between two Catholics, though not always. The couple themselves are the ministers of the sacrament, conferred on each other by their mutual consent and the exchange of marriage vows. The priest represents the Church as the official witness and receives the couple's consent. He acts as the facilitator of the wedding ceremony. The bride and groom marry each other.

PROCESSES

If you are considering marriage and would like to marry in the Church, you will be asked to meet the priest in which he will assist you with both civil and church requirements, as well as prepare you for the actual wedding ceremony. Usually you will be asked to attend a Pre-Marriage Preparation Program run by CatholicCare Victoria. The program is led by qualified and experienced educators, aiming at preparing as best as possible for your lifelong commitment of marriage.

If you would like to get married at St Peter's Church, please contact the parish office to book a date and the priest will contact you to begin the process. You are also kindly asked to fill out the Wedding Application Form and email it to epping@cam.org.au.
