Along with Marriage, Holy Orders is one of the two Sacraments of Service. If in Marriage, a spouse is called to devote oneself wholeheartedly to the other person and to building up the family, in Holy Orders, one is called to serve the whole people of God.

Through Ordination, a Christian is called to lay down one'e life in service of the baptised in the Church. Following the example of Christ, the Good Shepherd, an ordained minister is called to totally and generously devote oneself in caring for the flock gathered by Christ himself.
