Weddings
Weddings are by appointment with one of the priests in our parish. Please contact the Parish Office to arrange an appointment. Once you have arranged an appointment time, please ensure you bring to this meeting the following documents:
- Birth Certificates, Passports, and Driver’s Licenses. (At least two of each of these)
- Baptism Certificates (at least one of you needs to be a baptised Catholic for a Catholic wedding to take place).
- Confirmation Certificates
Our priests will guide you through the process of filling out the Government and Church Forms, as well as planning the ceremony itself. There are many ways to celebrate a wedding, and as such, you will be guided through the various options that are available (Nuptial Mass or a simple Wedding Ceremony, and their requisite parts).
In this, you are able to choose appropriate readings, prayers, and music to suit your celebration, to help your families and friends share your special day with you. As much as is possible, we want this to be a memorable celebration for each of you, as well as your family and friends.
If you have any questions, bring them to your appointment, where our priests will be more than happy to answer them.
Fees and Costs:
Prior to your wedding, you will be required to undergo a FOCCUS Marriage Preparation Course, which can either be done through our priests in the parish (for a small fee), or through Centacare Melbourne (again, for a fee).
In terms of costs, we ask for a donation for the celebrant between $400 and $500. On top of this, if you are planning to have your wedding at St Paul Apostle, we ask for a donation for use of the church of $300 (payable the week before the wedding). If your wedding is to be at another church or venue, we ask for a donation of between $500 and $600 for the celebrant.
For any further information, please don’t hesitate to contact the Parish Office.
