Our Parish Safeguarding Team would like to inform all Parish volunteers that it is now a safeguarding requirement for them to complete an online Essential Safeguarding Training Program. This is to make sure everyone understands the importance of child safety and our responsibilities.


Safeguarding Committee

Our Safeguarding Committee is chaired by Dawn Heldt. Other members include Fr Sebastian, Nicolas Calandra, Pamela Spink, Lynda Rawlins, Michelle Alvares, Aiden Cachart, Raul Spink and Franca Van Boxtel the Committee can be contacted via the Parish Office.

All Parish Employees and Volunteers are required to have a current Working with Children Check. (WWCC)

All Parish volunteers are expected to complete this training as part of our compliance for child safeguarding and your participation will be recorded.

Working with Children's Check

 

All volunteers (Readers, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, etc.) are required to have a working with children's check. When you apply for the WWCC online, please select VOLUNTEER. As the institution/organisation please put "St. Mary's Parish, Dandenong."

 

A volunteers WWCC is free of charge.

Police Check

 

Volunteers involved in making visits to nursing homes, or in counting, are required to have a National Police Check.

 Unlike the WWCC, the Police Check involves a small fee. This will be covered by the parish. Please select the discounted price option ($28.60), and pay using your account. This will be subsequently be reimbursed at the parish office.
